The ESRF, the European Synchrotron, is an international research facility based in Grenoble, France. Votre mission : Within the Technical Infrastructure Division and reporting directly to its Head, you will manage the Vacuum Group, which is responsible for the vacuum systems of ESRF particle accelerators. The Group provides analysis, maintenance, repair and development of vacuum systems, chambers and instrumentation, vacuum technology assistance to beamline users and participates in beamline design for control and interlock systems. Your role will consist in assessing, proposing and managing the financial and human resources of the Group to accomplish the general policy defined by the ESRF Management, and to strongly contribute to the construction of the vacuum system of the EBS Storage Ring project (more information on Your missions are the following: - Definition and follow up of the work programme of the Vacuum Group, in close interaction with the Accelerator and Source Division and the Experiments Division - Definition of priorities and management of the budget - Management and follow up of the careers of staff members in the group (20 people) - Follow up of the intervention schedules - Definition of training programmes and research and development actions – such as collaborations with other research facilities – required to maintain the skills of the group abreast of technical developments

Profil recherché : - Higher university degree (Master, MSc, DESS, Diplom, Diploma, Ingenieria Superior, Licenciatura, Laurea or equivalent) in a relevant technical or scientific field - 10 to 15 years of professional experience as Vacuum Engineer/Scientist or equivalent - Strong knowledge in the technical aspects of the activities of the Group. Knowledge of theoretical aspects of accelerator vacuum is an asset. - Leadership, flexibility, organisation, excellent communication and analytical skills - Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF), knowledge of French is a plus
